Compatibility requires more than a carrier weight range
A carrier weight category is an initial filter, not an installation approval. The final combination includes the breaker, bracket, coupler or adapter, working tool and connection arrangement. Those components change the complete attachment weight and geometry. The intended work position and application also belong in the review.
Use a single configuration record for the carrier and attachment. Include identification details, installed hydraulic options and any modifications. If one part of the proposed combination is still undecided, mark it as open rather than allowing a provisional choice to become an assumed fact.
Separate the mechanical and hydraulic reviews
- Identify every adapter or quick coupler between the carrier and the breaker.
- Keep drawing revisions and units visible.
- Record which requirements are confirmed and which remain open.
| Review area | Useful evidence | An incomplete shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier operating limits | Applicable carrier attachment and operating information | Carrier weight alone |
| Mechanical interface | A labeled drawing of the complete connection | A photograph without dimensions |
| Hydraulic supply | Attachment-circuit data with conditions and units | Total pump output |
| Return arrangement | Approved return path and relevant limits | A hose that physically connects |
| Clearance | Assembly geometry and the intended movement envelope | Checking only the parked position |
Read hydraulic figures as a set
Flow, pressure and return conditions describe different aspects of circuit suitability. Compare the breaker’s requirements with the carrier’s attachment circuit under equivalent conditions. A relief setting, a measured working pressure and a component pressure rating are different types of information even when their units match.
The return path can be overlooked because the supply line receives most attention. Restrictions in hoses, connections or the specified return arrangement must be considered in the technical review. Do not substitute a generic value found online for the instructions applicable to the actual carrier and breaker.
Make the mounting description reproducible
A useful mechanical record identifies pin dimensions, center distances, internal bracket widths and the reference faces used for measurement. It also identifies the parts being measured. A dimension on the carrier side of a coupler is not automatically the corresponding dimension on the attachment side.
Suppose a hypothetical order uses a breaker already matched to an excavator but adds a different coupler. The breaker itself has not changed, yet the assembly geometry and relevant interface have. The changed configuration needs review rather than being treated as the old approved combination.
Close the open items before installation
Use a simple decision state for each requirement: confirmed, clarification needed or configuration change required. One unresolved critical interface is enough to prevent a complete compatibility decision. This keeps the review useful instead of turning it into a long list of unchecked specifications.
A qualified person should perform any circuit testing, installation and commissioning under the applicable procedures. This article helps organize the purchasing review; it does not provide a pressure-setting or live-testing procedure. NEWLAND can review the proposed breaker supply scope using the carrier, circuit and mounting records together.
