Is Side Type the right layout for your application?

Start with your required mounting arrangement, working space and site conditions. Compare the three layouts below, then use the NLB series specifications to shortlist a model. Housing type is a configuration choice; it is not a separate impact-performance rating.

HousingWhat to compareInformation to confirm
Box TypeEnclosed outer housing; consider this layout when housing coverage and site noise requirements are part of the brief. The specified housing, buffers, complete attachment mass and any documented noise information for the proposed build.
Top TypeUpper mounting arrangement; compare the bracket connection and the space needed through the working movement.Pin centers, pin diameters, bracket opening, coupler or adapter details, and hose clearances.
Side TypeSide bracket arrangement; compare the attachment envelope, connection positions and access around the assembly.Bracket interfaces, hose routing, surrounding clearance and complete attachment mass.

Your Side Type inquiry: the details that change the selection

Show both sides of the bracket and the complete attachment envelope. Identify hose connection positions and any coupler or adapter that stays on the machine. When replacing a current attachment, compare the actual connecting faces and pin arrangement rather than external shape alone.

Shortlist the complete attachment

  1. Identify the carrier model and its actual operating configuration.
  2. Compare documented auxiliary flow and pressure with the candidate model. Include return-line and connection information where available.
  3. Check the final housing, bracket, tool and any coupler or adapter against the carrier’s permitted attachment arrangement.
  4. State the material, working position and required supply items so the offer covers the intended job.

Before ordering, request an itemized offer covering the breaker, bracket, working tool, hoses and any separately required connection items. Use the hydraulic matching guide for the circuit information to collect, and keep the confirmed breaker record for future spare-parts inquiries.

Models, carrier ranges and tool diameters on this page are selected reference examples. Ask about other models and specifications; confirm the quoted configuration and complete attachment mass separately.

Understand the side type layout

Side type describes the breaker and bracket arrangement. It does not independently state impact performance, hydraulic suitability or the size of carrier that can carry the complete attachment. Use the layout as one selection factor alongside the job, carrier circuit and working tool.

The bracket and exposed assembly make the physical arrangement especially relevant to a purchase discussion. Review access around the attachment, the position of hose connections and the space available through the intended working movement. A replacement must be checked against actual interfaces rather than the silhouette of the old unit.

Provide a useful mounting record

For a direct-pin installation, send the attachment-side drawing where available. If the breaker will connect through a Quick Coupler, include that coupler’s identification and interface record. Measurements should clearly show their reference points; an unexplained list of dimensions can leave the bracket arrangement ambiguous.

  • Pin diameters, pin spacing and bracket opening shown on a labeled drawing.
  • Photographs of both sides of the current mounting arrangement.
  • Any adapter or coupler that remains between the machine and breaker.
  • Hose routing constraints and surrounding clearance.

Compare what each quote includes

A side type quotation should identify what is included around the breaker itself. Record the bracket, working tool, hoses and any separately supplied connection items. This makes two offers easier to compare and helps avoid ordering a nominally similar attachment with a different interface or incomplete installation package.

For ongoing parts support, keep the quoted model, assembly scope and revision together. NEWLAND supplies breaker components as well as complete units, so the original order record can also become the reference for future tool, bushing, pin or bolt inquiries.

Questions about side type breakers

Is side type always the most powerful option?

The layout name is not a performance rating. Compare the proposed model’s documented requirements and application suitability; do not infer breaking performance from whether the bracket is side, top or enclosed.

Can I reuse my existing mounting bracket?

Send the bracket drawing, current breaker identification and photographs. Reuse depends on the actual assembly interfaces and condition, so matching carrier size alone is not enough to approve the arrangement.

How do I request the correct working tool?

Rock type and block size and task, then identify the tool interface for the proposed breaker. If you are replacing an existing tool, include its overall form, retention details and a labeled measurement record.
