Is Top Type the right layout for your application?
Start with your required mounting arrangement, working space and site conditions. Compare the three layouts below, then use the NLB series specifications to shortlist a model. Housing type is a configuration choice; it is not a separate impact-performance rating.
| Housing | What to compare | Information to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Box Type | Enclosed outer housing; consider this layout when housing coverage and site noise requirements are part of the brief. | The specified housing, buffers, complete attachment mass and any documented noise information for the proposed build. |
| Top Type | Upper mounting arrangement; compare the bracket connection and the space needed through the working movement. | Pin centers, pin diameters, bracket opening, coupler or adapter details, and hose clearances. |
| Side Type | Side bracket arrangement; compare the attachment envelope, connection positions and access around the assembly. | Bracket interfaces, hose routing, surrounding clearance and complete attachment mass. |
Your Top Type inquiry: the details that change the selection
Show the upper bracket and the connection to the carrier or Quick Coupler on the same labeled sketch. Include pin diameters, center spacing and bracket opening. Working-position photographs help identify clearance and hose-routing questions that a static side view may miss.
Shortlist the complete attachment
- Identify the carrier model and its actual operating configuration.
- Compare documented auxiliary flow and pressure with the candidate model. Include return-line and connection information where available.
- Check the final housing, bracket, tool and any coupler or adapter against the carrier’s permitted attachment arrangement.
- State the material, working position and required supply items so the offer covers the intended job.
Before ordering, request an itemized offer covering the breaker, bracket, working tool, hoses and any separately required connection items. Use the hydraulic matching guide for the circuit information to collect, and keep the confirmed breaker record for future spare-parts inquiries.
Models, carrier ranges and tool diameters on this page are selected reference examples. Ask about other models and specifications; confirm the quoted configuration and complete attachment mass separately.

Select the mounting arrangement as a complete assembly
A top type breaker is selected around its upper mounting arrangement and the way the attachment connects to the carrier. The label alone does not confirm the bracket dimensions or establish compatibility with a particular pin set or coupler. Treat the breaker, bracket and carrier interface as one connected purchase decision.
Working position matters as well as a static fit. Describe where the breaker will operate, the access available and any restrictions around the boom, stick or existing adapter. These observations help define the mounting information that needs to accompany a proposed unit.
Record the geometry that affects fit
A labeled mounting sketch is more useful than a single photograph. Show the pin diameters, their center spacing and the bracket opening at the relevant reference points. Include an existing coupler or adapter drawing when it changes the attachment connection.
| Information | Reason for including it |
|---|---|
| Carrier and configuration | Establish the machine and attachment limits under review |
| Bracket drawing | Identify the physical attachment interface |
| Coupler or adapter record | Show additional geometry and installed weight |
| Working-position photos | Explain clearance and hose-routing constraints |
Confirm what is included in your order
NEWLAND can quote the top type breaker together with the agreed mounting and connection items. Specify whether the working tool, bracket, hoses and spare tool are required, and ask for each to be identified in the offer. Separating these items helps avoid a quotation that appears complete but leaves installation components undefined.
Retain the approved configuration and the associated product documents with your order. Future inquiries for working tools, housing parts or main assemblies can then refer to the same breaker identity rather than a generic top type description.
Questions about top type breakers
Will a top type breaker fit any excavator of the same size?
Carrier size is only one check. Hydraulic compatibility, mounting dimensions, attachment limits and clearance must all be reviewed for the actual carrier configuration.
Can the top bracket be supplied separately?
Include that requirement in your inquiry and identify the breaker-side and carrier-side interfaces. A bracket order needs both connections defined, together with the intended application and supplied components.
Which documents should accompany the offer?
Request the technical sheet and mounting information for the proposed configuration, plus an itemized supply list. The documents should identify the same model and revision as the quotation so that the assembly is unambiguous.
