Is Box Type the right layout for your application?
Start with your required mounting arrangement, working space and site conditions. Compare the three layouts below, then use the NLB series specifications to shortlist a model. Housing type is a configuration choice; it is not a separate impact-performance rating.
| Housing | What to compare | Information to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Box Type | Enclosed outer housing; consider this layout when housing coverage and site noise requirements are part of the brief. | The specified housing, buffers, complete attachment mass and any documented noise information for the proposed build. |
| Top Type | Upper mounting arrangement; compare the bracket connection and the space needed through the working movement. | Pin centers, pin diameters, bracket opening, coupler or adapter details, and hose clearances. |
| Side Type | Side bracket arrangement; compare the attachment envelope, connection positions and access around the assembly. | Bracket interfaces, hose routing, surrounding clearance and complete attachment mass. |
Your Box Type inquiry: the details that change the selection
Describe any site noise requirement in the application brief. Ask for information for the proposed enclosed build and its measurement conditions if a project specifies a noise limit. The word “silent” does not mean that the breaker produces no noise. For future housing or buffer orders, retain the assembly reference.
Shortlist the complete attachment
- Identify the carrier model and its actual operating configuration.
- Compare documented auxiliary flow and pressure with the candidate model. Include return-line and connection information where available.
- Check the final housing, bracket, tool and any coupler or adapter against the carrier’s permitted attachment arrangement.
- State the material, working position and required supply items so the offer covers the intended job.
Before ordering, request an itemized offer covering the breaker, bracket, working tool, hoses and any separately required connection items. Use the hydraulic matching guide for the circuit information to collect, and keep the confirmed breaker record for future spare-parts inquiries.
Models, carrier ranges and tool diameters on this page are selected reference examples. Ask about other models and specifications; confirm the quoted configuration and complete attachment mass separately.

An enclosed configuration for your application
A box type breaker uses an outer enclosure around the breaker assembly. Buyers often consider this layout when housing coverage, buffer components and noise-related requirements are important to the project. The enclosure is one part of the selection: the working tool, carrier circuit and mounting geometry still determine whether a proposed package suits the machine.
NEWLAND supplies box type breakers through its Chinese manufacturing partners. Rock type and block size to be broken, the access available and whether the machine will work close to occupied areas. These details help define the configuration to discuss without treating every enclosed breaker as the same product.
Check the carrier before comparing models
Carrier operating weight is a starting point rather than a complete compatibility check. The proposed breaker must also be reviewed against the carrier’s auxiliary hydraulic information, attachment limits and physical interface. Include the weight of any coupler or adapter when describing the installed arrangement.
- Carrier model and operating configuration.
- Available auxiliary flow, circuit pressure information and return-line arrangement.
- Direct-pin or Quick Coupler mounting, with interface photos or drawings.
- Working material, usual task and any site-specific noise requirement.
Confirm what is included with your Box Type breaker
Ask for the breaker, mounting bracket, working tool, hoses and optional items to be listed separately in your quote. For replacement housing or buffer requirements, identify the relevant model and revision: external appearance alone does not establish that internal assemblies or mounting parts are interchangeable.
| Quotation item | What to identify |
|---|---|
| Breaker assembly | Proposed model and corresponding technical sheet |
| Mounting and connections | Bracket interface, connection arrangement and included items |
| Housing and buffers | Configuration and replacement-part references |
| Working tool | Tool shape, interface and quantity |
Questions about box type breakers
Does box type mean silent?
No. The term describes an enclosed construction, not an absence of noise. Where a project sets a noise limit, request the relevant model information and measurement context rather than relying on the word silent.
Can a box type breaker fit my current coupler?
Compatibility requires the coupler interface, pin arrangement, clearances and installed weight to be reviewed together. Send the coupler identification and attachment-side dimensions with the carrier details.
What should I send for a quotation?
Send your carrier details, job description and preferred supply scope. Add an existing attachment drawing or clear mounting photographs when replacing a current breaker. NEWLAND can then identify the information needed for the proposed configuration.
